Schools in Jamaica are facing a digital divide exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Many low-income families cannot afford to supply the computing resources needed to continue their children's education.
In communication with Staff at Grange Hill Primary and Junior High, we determined that one of the more pressing needs, is for students to have access to tablets to be able to complete their coursework from home. To complete their coursework, students use Google Classroom. This can only be accessed using a digital device preferably a computer or tablet. Most students are unable to afford a laptop or even a tablet.
The school does provide some computing resources, but they are limited in nature. Douglas & Friends is seeking to assist in this area.
With your help, DFF's mission is to donate [at least] 20 tablets to the school. The cost of one tablet is approximately $90 USD.
The Douglas & Friends Foundation never forgets its roots, and to that end, "every mikkle mek a muckle." To our friends near and far, this means that even if you can't sponsor the the full amount, we still greatly appreciate any donation you can provide.
Please donate whatever you can. The students appreciate your help, You and DFF can bridge the gap!
